On Wednesday morning, Today show host Savannah Guthrie announced that host Matt Lauer had been fired for “inappropriate sexual behavior.” On their shows Wednesday evening, late-night hosts responded to the newest addition on a growing list of men in media accused of sexual misconduct.

“Soon, they’ll have enough guys to start their own perv news network,” said The Daily Show host Trevor Noah.

He went on to discuss details of the accusations against Lauer, including that the former NBC heavyweight had a button under his desk that allowed him to lock his office door.

“You know you’ve reached a new level of perviness when you have to call a contractor in. I guess in a disgusting way it sort of makes sense,” the Comedy Central host said. “You can’t expect him to stand up, pull his pants down, and then shuffle over to the door to go lock it. That’s just not dignified.”

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert focused on a report that Lauer gave a coworker a sex toy as a present, along with a note detailing how he wanted to use it on her.

“It’s bad enough he gave her a sex toy, but he also gave her instructions,” Colbert said. “He found a way to mansplain sexual harassment.”

The CBS host also mentioned President Donald Trump’s tweet about Lauer’s dismissal. Trump tweeted Wednesday morning, “But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much fake news?”

“By fake news, do you mean more than a dozen women have accused Trump of improper conduct or sexual assault?” Colbert said in his monologue.

Also weighing in on Trump’s Twitter response was ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel.

“I’ll tell you, if anyone knows about inappropriate behavior in the workplace at NBC, it’s Donald J. Trump,” the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host said.

“And as far as Matt Lauer goes, what happens now?” Kimmel said. “Does he have to do an emotional sit-down interview with himself?”

Before Lauer issued a statement Thursday morning, Conan host Conan O’Brien jokingly theorized about what his response would be.

“Longtime Today show anchor Matt Lauer was fired for engaging in sexually inappropriate behavior. Afterwards, Lauer said, maybe having all those people looking in the windows wasn’t such a great idea after all,” the TBS host said.

On NBC’s The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon kicked off his monologue with a mention of Lauer.

“The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was lit tonight. Also getting lit tonight, the HR rep over at the Today show,” Fallon said.

The host also joked about one of Lauer’s most famous segments.

“So if you’re wondering where in the world is Matt Lauer, he’s probably at a bar with Charlie Rose,” Fallon said.

While NBC’s Seth Meyers didn’t make mention of the Lauer scandal during Wednesday night’s episode of Late Night, the host tweeted Wednesday afternoon that the episode had been taped a day early, “so if you’re wondering why any of today’s news is conspicuously absent this evening — now you know!”
