Adam Sandler is going home.

No, not back to New Hampshire. He’s returning to “Saturday Night Live’’ for the first time in over 20 years to make his hosting debut on May 4. The show announced the news on Twitter Friday morning.

Sandler joined “SNL’’ as a writer in 1990 and was a cast member from 1991 to 1995. During his time on the air, he performed the iconic “Chanukah Song.’’ Since leaving “SNL,’’ Sandler’s career has included co-writing and starring in comedic films like “Big Daddy’’ and “Grown Ups’’; founding the production company Happy Madison Productions; and, last fall, dropping a new comedy special on Netflix, “100% Fresh.’’
