From December 1 through December 31, the Historic New England hosts A Victorian Christmas at the Eustis Estate in Milton, Mass.
Inspired by the historic interiors, the decorations for the house have an emphasis on nature and rich earthy tones. There will be live floral arrangements and decoration throughout that relate to the William Morris patterns in the house including a twelve-foot Christmas tree in the main hall featuring birds and traditional Victorian paper ornaments.
Throughout December, the Eustis Estate is open Thursdays through Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional special events scheduled during the month. Visit the house after regular museum hours on Sunday evenings with live music and holiday cheer (December 3, 10, and 17); bring the kids for a visit with Santa Claus (December 3); create Christmas crafts (December 5 and 13); enjoy a traditional Christmas tea (December 6); take part in family story time and an ornament workshop (December 9 and 16); or join us for an illustrated talk on the history of Christmas traditions in New England (December 12).
General admission to house tours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 students and children. For a complete calendar of additional events and to make a reservation visit historicnewengland.org/Christmas today or call 617-994-6600.
