Manchester Community Theatre
Players will present its Manchester/Concord tour of Christmas Stories December 8-15th. Written by award-winning playwright and national best-selling author Tom Anastasi with Music by Peter Bridges, Christmas Stories won the 2004 New Hampshire Theatre Award for best original play and is billed as the “Feel good play you’ll never forget.”
“This will be the twelfth time the show’s been produced and will play in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Florida. It’s incredible standing in the back of the theater watching the audience during the productions. My goal was to write the ultimate feel-good play that was funny, entertaining, that had a few touching moments, and it worked! Peter’s music is incredible.”
There are three stories within Christmas Stories going on at the same time. “Just What I Always Wanted,” “The Christmas Prayer”, and “The Bell Ringer” occur in the same town with the lives of the characters intersecting. There are plenty of twists and surprises as the plot evolves. The situations are ones that we can all relate to – a stressed out couple with three children, a couple struggling to make ends meet, and pre-Christmas shopping mayhem.
Anastasi relates that “one of my favorite moments in the play always makes moms cringe…the on-stage food fight. We made some changes this year to the script – we added some traditional Christmas Carols, which are a lot of fun. In addition to an incredible cast, Mandy Blanchard (Music Director) and Loren Hallett (Choreographer) have done a great job with the music and dance. It’s going to be fun to go on tour. The show has been seen by over 5,000 people and we’re looking forward to bringing it to this part of New Hampshire for the first time.”
The Christmas Stories tour will start in Manchester at the MCTP Theatre at the North End Montessori School, 698 Beech Street in Manchester, NH, and can be seen on Friday and Saturday December 8 & 9 at 7:00 PM as well as Sunday December 10th at 2:00.
