Join us for a 4-week workshop beginning Mondays, (March 25, April 1, April 8, April 15) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Newburyport, MA. Designed and presented by Dawne Shand - writer, scholar, activist and board member of the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus. We'll talk about the great traditions of civil disobedience and learn from today's rule breakers and change makers!
We've split the workshop into four units: Political, Creative, Body, Action. You can attend one, two, three, or all four. The cost for each is $40 and $150 if you sign up for all four workshops on https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4100526.
Week One: POLITICAL - featuring Pam Berman, one of the state’s great champions for quality, discussing her advocacy for women in public life and her current role as president of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus.
Week Two: CREATIVE - Poet, activist and powerhouse Martha Collins who has written about racism and founded the creative writing program at UMASS- Boston and is leader in The William Joiner Institute for the Study of War and Social Consequences.
Week Three: BODY - Activists Heidi Lilley (who has taken the cause of women having the right to bear their breasts in public all the to the NH Supreme Court and Lori Day (Jennie Geiger Crisis Center) will lead a conversation about violence and the ownership of our bodies.
Week Four: ACTION - Writing Workshop with Dawne Shand, where we'll complete our adventure by writing personal manifestos.
