Folk musician Cindy Kallet will appear at Saturday Night in Marblehead, monthly coffeehouse at the Church of St. Andrew. Kallet, a singer, guitarist, and songwriter, has taught and performed extensively throughout North America; she has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion and WFMT’s Folkstage; and she has recorded eleven albums and published a songbook of original songs. Her first album, Working on Wings to Fly, was voted one of the Top 100 Folk Albums of the [last] Century by WUMB Boston radio listeners. Leave the Cake in the Mailbox received the Parents’ Choice Gold Award in 2004. Kallet is also known for her work with Grey Larsen, with Gordon Bok, and with Ellen Epstein and Michael Cicone.
Kallet’s repertoire includes original songs about a wide variety of topics: love lost and found, home, the state of the world, raising children, and even skunks. She loves to share her favorite
traditional and contemporary folk songs. In the Boston Globe, Scott Alarik has called Cindy “one of folk music’s most respected songwriters . . . provocative, heartwise, and original” and “a brilliant guitarist.”
The venue is handicapped accessible.
