Henry Wolyniec | relief
April 5 - May 31, 2019
Portland, Maine - SPEEDWELL projects presents relief, a show of new work by Henry Wolyniec. The exhibit is on view from April 5 to May 31, with an opening reception from 6pm to 8pm on April 5. The show includes relief prints, metal and paper sculptures, and a documentary video interview with the artist.
“My work on paper combines relief printing and collage in a seamless display of color and form to invent monotype prints. The piece takes one direction as I am making aesthetic decisions on the press and another direction while imaging with collage. Unlike most printmakers, I do not produce multiples,” said Wolyniec. “Being in the Wolfe Editions print shop is an integral part of my process.”
The wall-mounted sculptures, made of metal wire, paper, and paint, are a new exploration in Wolyniec’s studio practice. He has been working on them for two years and this is the first time they are being shown.
Henry Wolyniec of Portland, Maine has been a visual artist for over 35 years. He received his BFA from Parson Schools of Design and attended Columbia University's General Studies program. He exhibits nationally and his work is included in museums and private collections.
