Nahcotta is thrilled to present the newest abstract and landscape paintings by local Seacoast artist, Tim Beavis, from January 11 through January 27. The opening reception is free and open to the public and will take place at Nahcotta on Friday, January 11, from 5-7 p.m.
A combination of his myriad, unfailingly beautiful bodies of work, this exhibition includes Beavis’s resplendent Beach Seriespaintings, which explore the connectivity and unbreakable bond between the ocean, sand, and sky. The path he creates within the tall sea grass is unexpectedly calming and hopeful, an invitation to explore the indescribable beauty of the seashore, awaiting beyond dunes in the foreground. Beavis’s exhibition will also show a collection of his abstract paintings, which play with deep, bold colors layered atop one another in rectilinear forms, occasionally taking shape as orbs or repeat patterns evocative of a Gee’s Bend quilt.
“Since the very beginning of Nahcotta, almost twenty years ago now, Tim has been a vital part of our gallery,” says Nahcotta’s owner, Deborah Thompson. “He’s one of the very first artists whose work we showed as a solo exhibition and over the years, our relationship with Tim has developed and grown to become one steeped in respect, admiration, and friendship. We’re incredibly excited to share this show with you to start the new year.”
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Tim Beavis graduated from the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. His work has been exhibited throughout the Northeast at the likes of UNH Gallery, McGowen Fine Art Gallery, The June Fitzpatrick Gallery in Portland, The George Marshall Store in York, The York Public Library and additional galleries in Florida, New Jersey, and New York.
