The University of New Hampshire Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will offer their first performances of the 2018-2019 season on Thursday, November 8th, 2018 at 8:00 pm in Johnson Theater at the UNH-Durham campus. The UNH choirs are conducted by Dr. Alex Favazza, Director of Choral Activities.
The UNH Chamber Singers will perform a variety of selections, including works by Felix Mendelssohn, Alice Parker, Orlando di Lasso, Susan LaBarr, Pippa Cleary, and featuring Francis Poulenc’s Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël. Student conductors Isabelle Hegland and Patrick Berry will conduct selections from Wilhelm Stenhammar’s Three Choral Ballads.
The UNH Concert Choir’s performance will feature the iconic choral works of American composer Randall Thompson. The centerpiece of the concert will be Thompson’s 1959 choral art song cycle Frostiana. The Concert Choir will also perform works by Marques L. A. Garrett, Kim André Arnesen, and William L. Dawson. The UNH choirs are assisted in rehearsal and joined in performance by student collaborative artist Joseph Stevens on piano.
All UNH Chamber Singers and Concert Choir performances are free and open to the public.
