Yoga for Bone Health -- with Masha Leuner
Saturday, January 12 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)
Recent studies have shown that, when practiced frequently and consistently, specific yoga postures may aid in reversing bone loss. This workshop is targeted at older adults to assist in strengthening posture, improving balance and flexibility, and gaining better range of motion. We will focus on strengthening fracture risk areas, such as the spine and hips. Students will also learn how to stretch safely, calm the nervous system, and breathe in the poses. We will go over common contraindications for osteoporosis and osteopenia, so that students can take the practice home in order to establish a consistent routine.
Yoga for Bone Health is a targeted practice developed by Dr. Loren Fishman and designed for the purpose of maintaining a healthy skeleton.
