Alt-rocker Beck, singer-songwriter Norah Jones, and Boston’s own Lake Street Dive are headed to Martha’s Vineyard this summer for Beach Road Weekend, a three-day music festival that will bring more than two dozen acts to the island from Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26.
The second edition of the festival, which began in 2019, will once again be held at Veterans Memorial Park in Tisbury, with artists playing on two separate stages.
Adam Epstein, the founder of the festival, said in an interview with Boston.com that he was excited to land a regional exclusive concert from Beck, one of his favorite artists.
“The only place you can see Beck this summer [in New England] is here on the Vineyard,” Epstein said. “That’s what we were shooting for, something special that made you say, ‘Wow, I’m going to spend a few days on that island.”
Epstein, who previously ran the Martha’s Vineyard Summer Concert Series, said that a lot of Vineyard residents and vacationers had their doubts when he proposed the first edition of Beach Road Weekend in 2019, which featured artists like John Fogerty, Dispatch, and Phil Lesh & Friends.
“Doing a festival in the face of Fyre Fest? On an island?” Epstein said. “We had a lot of eyeballs on us, so we needed to deliver. And we did. And we earned the credibility to work at a higher level in 2020.
“Last year was our dress rehearsal, and this is the real thing,” Epstein continued.
Tickets for Beach Road Weekend will go on sale Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. on the festival website, with a limited number of three-day GA passes starting at $255 and $275 before settling at the full price of $295. GA+ passes will also be available for $450, as will VIP passes for $1,000.
