Kenny Chesney fans hoping to blow off a little pandemic-era steam at Gillette Stadium this summer will have to wait until 2022.

On Monday, the country star announced that his already-delayed Chillaxification Tour, which was scheduled to culminate at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 27 and 28, 2021, will be delayed until 2022.

“While many possibilities were weighed, with the varying local statutes and practices and social distancing, touring in 2021 would mean that a good percentage of people would not be able to come to the show,” read a press release posted on Chesney’s website. “Rather than disappoint any of the fans, especially with safety precautions varying from city-to-city, he has decided to move his tour to 2022.”

The shows would have marked Chesney’s 20th and 21st performances at the home of the New England Patriots. Chesney’s tour has been delayed once already by the pandemic, with the tour originally set to visit Gillette on Aug. 28 and 29, 2020.

According to the release, all of the stadiums on Chesney’s 2021 itinerary will host shows in 2022, but no specific dates have been announced. The tour will also have a new name and lineup, with details currently being finalized.

“We have waited for so long, I can’t play knowing I would disappoint a portion of No Shoes Nation who wouldn’t be able to get into the stadiums and the amphitheaters,” Chesney said in the release. “There’s no way around that this year. As much I hate postponing further, I would hate telling people who waited we won’t be able to let them come due to capacity restrictions. That’s just not fair.”
