Phantom Gourmet, a local TV program dedicated to showcasing New England’s best restaurants, is expanding its lineup of food events with its very first winter food festival — dubbed, appropriately, the Phantom Gourmet Winter Phest.
Held on Saturday, Jan. 26 on Lansdowne Street, the festival will feature bars and heated tents on the street to keep people toasty outside, while restaurants all along Landsdowne will host themed parties: Tropical Party at Bill’s, Live Country Music Party at Loretta’s, Eskimo Kiss Party at Bleacher Bar, Winter Fun Stuff at Cheeky Monkey and Jillian’s, Pre-Party at Game On, and a Very Important Phan Party at Lansdowne Pub.
Tickets include samples of the Phantom Gourmet’s 30 favorite comfort foods, like clam chowder, chicken pot pie, and hot soup, from JP Twisted BBQ, Cheesy Street Grill, Mendon Twin Drive-In (which the Phantom Gourmet owns), Zinneken’s, and more. In the mood for oysters? Summer Shack will also be there, shucking the bivalves for one dollar apiece, and beer and wine will be sold on the street.
Tickets are currently on sale for $20, and VIP tickets — which let you into the festival 30 minutes earlier, and get you entry into the VIP Party at Lansdowne Pub — are $50. General tickets will go up to $30 on Monday, Jan. 21, and will be $40 at the door.
If Christmas shopping has left you a little strapped for cash, there are a couple of ways to score free admission to the winter smorgasbord. The first 500 people who bring a winter coat or 10 socks in new or good condition will receive free entry, and the first 100 to attend in a bathing suit will also get in for $0 — the latter of which just might make you a legend at the first Phantom Gourmet Winter Phest.
