Dunkin’ Donuts is here to spread immense amounts of “joy’’ this holiday season in its newly released, standard and festive-themed coffee cup.

The release comes amid controversy surrounding Starbucks’s decision to put out minimalist holiday cups this year, an apparently outrageous alternative to its previous snowflake-and-ornamant-clad cups of the past.

Religious advocates accused Starbucks of participating in a movement to phase out the Christmas message from the holidays. The conversation went viral on Twitter, and Donald Trump even joined in.

The Dunkin’ Donuts holiday cup, on the other hand, is emblazoned with the word “joy’’ surrounded by wreaths and holly.

“For many years Dunkin’ Donuts has served coffee in festive cups featuring the word “joy’’ as part of our annual celebration of the season and holiday offerings,’’ said Scott Hudler, Vice President of Global Consumer Engagement for Dunkin’ Brands, in a statement. “We believe this conveys the happiness and spirit of the holiday season in a way that resonates with our guests.’’
