Popular NYC vegan restaurant plans to open in the Seaport District

It's a vegan burger joint that might have carnivores doing a double take.

A popular Manhattan vegan restaurant is coming to Boston this summer.

By CHLOE is expected to open in the Seaport district in the 101 Seaport PricewaterhouseCoopers building, according to Samantha Wasser, the restaurant’s co-partner and creative director.

Chef Chloe Coscarelli, the restaurant’s namesake and the first vegan chef to win the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, opened the New York City restaurant with Wasser on Bleecker Street last summer. The space quickly became NYC’s fastest growing vegan burger chain, and a favorite stop for hungry celebrities.

Wasser said the new location will serve familiar comfort foods that also happen to be healthy. The restaurant’s menu will offer vegan goodies like salads, vegan burgers, sandwiches, fries, pasta, dairy-free ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, and cold-pressed juice.

“The word vegan is sometimes a scary word for people who might not know what vegan is or have experienced vegan in the best way possible,” Wasser said. “So it turns into how do you make vegan approachable and not scary. We do it by trying to present food in fun and beautiful way that makes people really want to take a bite out of that delicious salad or burger.”

The new location will seat 48 people and include an outdoor patio, according to Wasser.

“We get a lot of customer feedback from people coming to our [NYC] restaurant, and, sometimes we get really random requests of where to expand to next,” she said, “but we noticed a lot of people from Boston and its surrounding areas were reaching out to us so we thought it just made sense to make it our next location and we couldn’t be more excited.”

This may not be By CHLOE’s last location in Boston, either. Wasser added if the Seaport location does as well as they are expecting, the restaurant chain would be looking to expand to more locations closer to the city’s universities.

Brunchin’ on these babes!!! Enjoy your Sunday NYC.
