Boston and New York have a long-standing baseball rivalry. Now the two cities will go head-to-head in a competition inspired by America’s favorite pastime at Island Creek Oyster Bar on Thursday night.
Dubbed the “Pizza Playoffs,” the culinary rivalry pits Jeremy Sewall, executive chef and partner of Island Creek Oyster Bar, against Michael Harlan Turkell, award-winning food photographer and founder of the podcast The Food Seen.

Sewall will represent Boston and Turkell Brooklyn as they each create three signature pizzas inspired by their favorite baseball teams and players. It’s up to the guests to vote for their favorite pies.
The playoffs go from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday night at Island Creek Oyster Bar, 500 Commonwealth Ave. The event is open to the public, with each of the six available pies going for $10. Attendees will also be able snack on baseball-inspired treats and purchase beers, ciders, and wines from a list that has options from both the Massachusetts and New York regions.
