It looks like victory is sweet for one of Boston’s most famous bakers.

Joanne Chang, pastry chef and owner of Flour bakery, was named “Outstanding Baker” during Monday night’s James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards.

The awards are considered one of the highest honors in the North American culinary community. Chang was one of four bakers across the country nominated for this year’s award.

Flour first opened in the South End in 2000, and now has locations in Boston’s Back Bay, Fort Point, and Cambridge’s Central Square, plus a headquarters in Lower Allston. Chang’s also the co-owner of the South End restaurant Myers + Chang (with her husband Christopher Myers) and a cookbook author.

She wasn’t the only chef representing Massachusetts at the awards. Other big nominations included Café ArtScience in Cambridge and Row 34 in the Seaport for the “Outstanding Bar Program” category, and Ana Sortun, of Cambridge’s Oleana, for “Outstanding Chef.”
