Since opening in August, Fool’s Errand — a playful snack bar in the Fenway from local all-star chef Tiffani Faison — has proven to be a solid stop on any Fenway bar crawl (and a welcome addition to Faison’s growing empire, which includes Tiger Mama, Sweet Cheeks, and the upcoming Orfano). On Thursday, the snack destination is celebrating Valentine’s Day by swapping out its savory menu of croquettes and finger sandwiches for Suite of Sweets, a dessert-only affair — and one that will include a dessert pizza bar.
Along with Faison and chef de cuisine Ellie Roycroft, pastry chef Dee Steffen Chinn will take over the kitchen with a sugar-laden lineup that includes cinnamon gummy bears, chocolate-covered strawberries, and conversation heart sugar cookies. There will be a rose cupcake wall (hello, Instagram), along with cherry hand pies, heart-shaped churros, and Climb a Mount Blanc For You, which are tart shells served with Champagne and crème de cassis.
But we’re most excited about the Take a Little Pizza My Heart station, where sugar meets carbs and ‘za dreams come true. Chinn has created renditions like a caramel apple pie with cinnamon baked apples and salted caramel sauce, and a blackberry basil variation with blackberry merlot, sweet ricotta, and basil. Chocolate aficionados will likely gravitate toward the chocolate and strawberry pizza topped with a chocolate drizzle.
In addition to sweet treats, craft cocktails, wine, and bubbly, local poet and Improv Asylum writer/actor, Daniel Hirshfield, will also be on hand to craft spontaneous love poems on his typewriter. Wonder how many of them will be about pizza?
