One of Boston’s most tourist-driven destinations will soon be the home of a new Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop.
The Burlington, Vt.-based ice cream company with a global fanbase confirmed that it will open its next Boston store at Faneuil Hall, with an opening date planned for mid-May.
“This location fits our criteria — lots of foot traffic and a tourist-friendly location,” Laura Peterson, Ben & Jerry’s public elations manager, told Boston.com in an email.
The new scoop shop will be located at 8 North Market St., suite 2182, on the ground floor next to Starbucks. According to the City of Boston’s licensing board hearing page, the shop will occupy 816 square feet, and will include an ice cream service area, a customer area, and a back room. The hours of operation on the license are listed as 10 a.m.–11:30 p.m., though that could change closer to the opening date.
While Ben & Jerry’s isn’t a stranger to Boston — the company has locations in the Seaport, by the aquarium, and on Newbury Street — the Faneuil Hall scoop shop will arguably be its most centralized location in downtown Boston.
