If takeout wasn’t already a regular part of your pre-pandemic life, it likely is now. COVID-19 has prompted most restaurants to beef up their takeout offerings, while the upcoming winter will undoubtedly see an even heavier reliance on meals to-go as patios begin to close for the season.

So where to place an order? You may have your favorite to-go spots, but takeout fatigue is real. So we asked readers to name the Boston area restaurants that have been consistent sources of excellent takeout throughout the pandemic, along with some of their favorite dishes and why these restaurants deserve your dollars. The results cover Thai, Mexican, Indian, Vietnamese, Greek, and Italian cuisines, among others, and span neighborhoods and cities from Cambridge and Somerville to Dorchester and Brookline.

More than 300 readers weighed in, with Brato Brewhouse & Kitchen receiving the most votes.

“I’m always craving something different, and Brato has been a one stop shop for us,” Caroline Green said about the Brighton hangout. “My husband loves the wings and tacos, and I love to try whatever is new on the menu. And we never finish dinner feeling hungry. Doesn’t hurt that we’ve never had an inaccurate order. Can’t go wrong!”

Others shared their appreciation for consistency and perseverance during the pandemic.

“They never missed a day: March, April, May, and of course, now,” Kitty Kaufman wrote about Sweet Tomatoes in Newton Center. “The staff was cheerful when there was nothing to be cheerful about. I was so happy to find them open when everyone else was closed. They’re the best, and kudos for hanging in all spring. You should be there now.”

“Consistently delicious, satisfying, spicy food that makes you feel alive in these dismal times,” Anne Marie said about Chilli Garden in Medford.
