Are visions of sugar plums dancing in your head as the holidays approach? Dunkin’ is hoping that you might be keen to drink them, too.
On Dec. 2, the Canton-based coffee and doughnut chain put Thanksgiving in its rear-view mirror and went straight to “The Nutcracker,” launching a Sugarplum Macchiato for the holidays.
In addition to espresso, milk, notes of vanilla, and sugar plum flavor, the drink boasts “bright berry flavors of blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, and plum,” giving it a decidedly purple hue. It’s available hot or iced.
“Our Sugarplum Macchiato is a colorful twist on a well-known, but perhaps mysterious-tasting, flavor of holiday lore,” Jill Nelson, vice president of marketing strategy at Dunkin’, shared in a press release. (For those who have never sampled a sugar plum, a note: It is not an individual fruit, but instead a sweet, holiday candy, often made with dried fruits and nuts and shaped into a plum-like ball.)
It’s also not the only new holiday item to be introduced by Dunkin’ this week. The company also debuted its new frosted snowflake doughnut, which sports purple icing and snowflake sprinkles.
The colorful items are available for a limited time and can be ordered in-store or on the Dunkin’ app.
