The list should be good news for Massachusetts workers

Dozens of the 100 best jobs of 2016 are in healthcare, according to a ranking from U.S. News & World Report, a fact that ought to make the hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers in Massachusetts feel pretty good.

Of the top 10 jobs ranked by U.S. News in their annual “Best Jobs” report, only one is not in the healthcare industry. And that one’s a tech job, another booming sector in Greater Boston.

In order to choose the jobs it would rank, U.S. News looked at data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that predicts which occupations will have the most openings between 2014 and 2024. From there, the publication ranked the jobs based on median salary, employment rate, various measures of industry growth, and the stress levels and work-life balance job holders can expect.

The median salary for the top 10 jobs is $148,401, and for the top 100 jobs is $79,642.

U.S. News also broke down the mega-list into a number of industry specific lists like “Best Technology Jobs” and “Best Business Jobs.”

The best-paying jobs in Massachusetts is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with a median salary of $257,570 in the state. And Boston is the No. 10 best-paying city overall.
