Here we go – a Top 10 Love Letters list for 2021 (based on the number of reads).
No. 1 surprised me. I thought it would be like … No. 8 maybe.
Meanwhile, I didn’t think No. 8 would make the list at all.
I thought No. 3 would be No. 1.
Worth noting: over at BostonGlobe.com, No. 1 was different. On that platform (the Globe gets the letters on its site after we do), the No. 1 letter – by a huge margin – was the recent letter from the guy who was worried that his girlfriend was secretly in love with her best friend.
That letter ballooned in popularity, topping Omicron news on some days. I have no idea why such a panicky question about possible (but improbable, in my opinion) friend love caught on, but … it did. Most of the Globe’s Top 10 list is different from ours, if you’re interested in checking it out.
Does our list track for you? What letter did you think would make the cut but didn’t?
I hope you all have a safe night and weekend.
As always, I appreciate this community and the fact that you continue to show up. I hope the letters provide escape, validation, even a reminder that there are others in the world. I am always grateful.
If you have not listened to the Love Letters podcast, it is good for when you’re in the car or folding laundry. I mention this because next week’s episode will feature a former letter writer – one you might remember.
