The weather is partially to blame after a fish truck was filleted by the North Harvard Street overpass while traveling on Soldiers Field Road in Allston this morning, officials said.
When the Globe Fish Co.’s box truck, driven by a 23-year-old Mansfield man, struck the overpass, the truck’s top was ripped off, sending debris flying into the following cars behind, State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said.
The truck driver suffered a minor head laceration and was taken to an area hospital. He potentially faces a citation for an over-height truck, Procopio said. One car driven by a 53-year-old Arlington woman was damaged. The woman was unharmed.
Leon Weinstein, Globe Fish Co.’s owner, said the driver was not a regular with the company, “who would have known better.”
The truck did not contain any fish, he said.
Weinstein said the truck was also different than usual because the regular one had broken down due to the cold weather.
