A male was arrested this morning at the Hyde Park Education Complex after bringing a gun into the building, according to a Boston public schools spokesman.
The male, the brother of a New Mission High School student, was seen with the weapon near the entrance of the school around 10:30 a.m. and was stopped by both school and Boston police, said spokesman Lee McGuire.
The male was apprehended and the the weapon was confiscated, McGuire said. During the struggle to subdue the suspect, two people were injured, Boston police said.
The school was placed in lockdown until around 12:30 p.m. to ensure the area was safe. Principals of both the New Mission High School and the Boston Community Leadership Academy, which are both located at the complex, issued automated phone calls to parents of the students.
The male, whose age and identity were not released, was in the school for “Portfolio Day,” where families are welcomed to watch presentations by students.
