Thinking of zooming on Interstate 93 northbound through Boston late tonight? Forget about it.
The highway will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation says.
MassDOT spokesman Michael Verseckes says the highway will be closed to accommodate regularly scheduled maintenance between Exit 18 — Frontage Road to Massachusetts Avenue — and the Cross Street onramp, just past Salem Street in the North End. He said the work includes cleaning drains, washing signs and tunnel walls, and repairing electrical and communication systems.
“We don’t anticipate any major traffic volume between those hours,” Verseckes said Monday. Signs will direct drivers along surface streets during the closure, he said.
