Disabled Red Line train removed from Downtown Crossing

An MBTA Red Line train was disabled at Downtown Crossing this morning, causing delays for about a half hour.

The train was stationary between 8:55 a.m. and 9:23 a.m. due to a mechanical problem, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said in an e-mail.

“Subway personnel had to couple [the disabled train] with another train in order to move it out of the way,” Pesaturo said.

Bus service did not replace train service during the delay, Pesaturo said.
