It’s okay, everyone: The ducks are safe

The Lexington Police in Massachusetts spent the better part of their Sunday in rescue mode.

The Lexington, Massachusetts Police department and the Animal Rescue League of Boston joined forces for a duckling rescue Sunday.

According to tweets posted by the ARL, eight ducklings fell into a storm drain over the weekend. A Lexington resident spotted the ducks in a drain on Jonas Stone Circle and reported it around 10 a.m., according to the Lexington Police Department. The Animal Rescue League and Fire Department were also notified.

The saga was chronicled on social media:

The Lexington Fire Department assisted in lifting a storm drain and locating the ducklings. All eight were retrieved and released after it was determined that no harm had been caused.

They were promptly reunited with their mother, who witnessed the ordeal.

As of 4:13 p.m. on Sunday, the duck squad was safely reunited.
