Mechanics at Pep Boys in Salem, New Hampshire, recently popped open the hood of a car for a “routine oil change” and discovered an eastern screech owl staring back at them, police said in a Facebook post Friday.
“Shazam was sitting on the engine and the car owner had no idea how he got there,” Salem police said. “We figured he was either seeking warmth or chasing a mouse.”
Police transported the “very friendly” owl, which they named Shazam, to On The Wing wildlife rehabilitation center in Epping, New Hampshire, for evaluation.
“Good luck Shazam, we hope you heal well!” police wrote.
