On Nov. 4 — a.k.a. next Monday — the Canton-based coffee-and-baked-goods chain said it plans to treat fans to a free medium hot or iced coffee on Nov. 4 at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants throughout Central and Eastern Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Maine. The offer is available and redeemable only on Nov. 4 through the “My Offers’’ tab of the Dunkin’ App, the brand’s app for mobile payment and gifting.

Dunkin’ debuted its app in August 2012, and since that time, 4 million people have downloaded it to their smartphones, the company said. Dunkin’ has used the app for marketing purposes and promotions such as this one. The Dunkin’ App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone or iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore and from the Google Play Store at https://play.google.com/store.

On Nov. 4, a person can use the Dunkin’ app to get a virtual coupon that he or she can redeem at a participating store for a free coffee.
