The two Vertex Pharmaceutical buildings on Fan Pier have sold for $1.125 billion, the Boston Business Journal reported today.

Joseph Fallon sold his two Vertex Pharmaceuticals buildings to Senior Housing Properties Trust (NYSE: SNH), a Newton-based real estate investment trust, for $1.125 billion, according to records at the Suffolk Registry of Deeds.

Vertex agreed to move from Cambridge to the two 15-story buildings in 2011, when it signed a 15-year lease with Fallon, and formally opened for business over the winter.
