A new co-working space designed for and dedicated to women opened its doors Monday in Back Bay.

It is the eighth location of The Wing, a network of women-focused work and community spaces spanning from London to Chicago to Los Angeles. The members-only association, started in October 2016, aims to advance women economically, civically, and socially, hosting a variety of events in its spaces.

For its Boston space, housed on two penthouse floors at 699 Boylston St., The Wing partnered with Brookline Booksmith, Strand Bookstore, and Rizzoli to curate a lending library with more than 2,000 titles. The company also brought in local chefs, including Barbara Lynch, Jody Adams, Karen Ackunowicz, and Tiffani Faison, for the development of the menu for its on-site cafe for members. The design of the 10,500-square-foot space pays homage to the original women’s colleges and features conference rooms, a mothers’ room, a beauty room, and a shower space with lockers.

To join The Wing in Boston, members pay $185 monthly. An “all-access” membership, which grants entry to any Wing location in the country, goes for $250 per month.
