Boston University will offer COVID-19 vaccines to students and staff this week

They'll be administered starting Monday.

UNITED STATES - APRIL 20: Students pass by the Boston University John Hancock Student Village on the school's campus in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S., on Sunday, April 20, 2008. In his new book "The Architecture of the Absurd," John Silber, the university's former president, bashes designs that transcend pure functionality to try something expressionistically new, or try to solve old problems in innovative ways. 13 million square feet at Boston University was built on Silber's watch, including this building here. Boston University has several thousand doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine available this week for students, faculty, and staff who still need their first shot.

The vaccines will be administered starting Monday, May 3 through Friday, May 7. They were provided by Boston Medical Center, the teaching hospital for BU’s School of Medicine.

The university emailed students and staff in recent days to schedule appointments on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

BU, like many other universities, is requiring students to get vaccinated before attending classes this fall. Those who get their first shot at BU can get their second dose on campus in early June or at vaccination sites near their homes if they move out of town before then.

“Given the timing of students leaving for the semester, BMC recognized this important opportunity to help students get vaccinated,” said director of student health services Judy Platt in a statement. “Providing doses directly to BU allows us to provide quick and easier access to vaccination appointments for members of the BU community. We opened up appointments first to students and are fortunate to be able to extend this opportunity to faculty and staff.”
