Arlington man sentenced to 15 years for child pornography

A 45-year-old man who allegedly possessed about 34,000 images and 13,000 videos of child pornography was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Derrick Jones, of Arlington, had pleaded guilty to receipt and possession of child pornography in January 2016. According to the indictment, Jones had received and traded thousands of images and videos of sexual exploitation of minors.

Jones was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release, and he is required to register as a sex offender upon release from prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He was previously convicted of two counts of child pornography possession in 2005.

An attorney for Jones declined to comment.
