Women accused of shoplifting a $2,000 Fendi bag from TJ Maxx

Police say two women removed a security device to steal a $2,000 Fendi bag from a T.J. Maxx store in Bedford Tuesday night.

Stacy Monteiro, 31, and Eboney McClain, 30, both of Boston, were arrested and charged with shoplifting by asportation. McClain was also charged with unlawful possession of a theft detection device deactivator or remover and unlawful deactivation or removal of a theft detection device.

The store reported the incident to Bedford police just after 6:30 p.m., saying the suspects were seen leaving the parking lot in a silver car. Officers tracked down the car and pulled the women over.

“We take shoplifting very seriously in our community and have absolutely no tolerance for this type of crime,” said Chief Robert Bongiorno.

The women were arraigned in Concord District Court.  They were ordered to stay away from all T.J. Maxx stores. The judge set Monteiro’s bail at $1,000 and McClain’s bail at $300. The next scheduled hearing is July 6.
