Kid rapper Lil Poopy’s dad arrested in federal gang sweep
The father of a pint-sized rapper from Brockton was arrested in a federal gang sweep announced Thursday by the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Luis Rivera, also known as “Fat Louie,” according to court records, was among more than 60 people charged in a federal raid targeting alleged drug and gun runners. Rivera was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, according to the indictment.
Rivera made news in February 2013, when videos of his then-9-year-old son, who rapped under the moniker Lil Poopy, sparked a state child abuse investigation. Lil Poopy — whose real name is Luis Rivera Jr. — shot the videos in nightclubs with suggestively dancing women. His dad was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Lil Poopy went on to star in a Lifetime reality TV series, The Rap Game, hosted by Jermaine Dupri.
