Man arrested for allegedly throwing bricks at Boston officer’s cruiser

A Boston man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly throwing bricks at an officer’s cruiser in the South End, Boston police said in a statement.

Around 8:15 a.m., an officer heard a loud bang on the back window of her cruiser in the area of 10 Reynolds Way while responding to a radio call. The officer saw a man, later identified as 24-year-old Jonathan Andujar, near the back of her vehicle, according to the statement.

Police said when the officer made a U-turn to investigate, Andujar was now holding a brick and allegedly threw it at the the cruiser’s windshield. Another officer who had seen the attack approached the suspect from behind and managed to apprehend him, suffering minor injuries in the process, according to police.

Andujar was arrested and charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon on a police officer and malicious destruction of property, according to the statement. Police said the suspect’s motive was not known as of Thursday afternoon.
