A Methuen bar fight, caught on video, has resulted in charges

“Methuen police expect to charge additional people in short order.”

A fight at a Methuen bar early Sunday morning, which was caught on video, has resulted in charges against one man, and more people are expected to be charged in the incident, police said.

Police were called to the Brick House Tavern and Tap, which apparently had been showing the UFC 229 mixed-martial-arts pay-per-view event, around 12:43 a.m., according to department spokesman John Guilfoil.

As a result of the altercation, Carey Hamilton, 49, of Methuen, has been charged with mayhem and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said in a release. He was initially held on $20,000 bail and scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence District Court.
