A 23-year-old man from Paxton is dead after his older brother allegedly attacked him with a hammer, the Telegram & Gazette reports.

Alexander Asia, 24, of 19 Monticello Drive, is being held without bail following his Monday arraignment on two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily harm, according to a press release from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.’s office.

Officials responded to the home after Leticia Asia, the men’s mother, reportedly went to a neighbor’s house with serious injuries; a 911 call was made at 10:39 p.m., according to Early’s office. Responders found Innocent Asia dead inside the home. Leticia Asia was brought to a hospital and is listed in stable condition, authorities said.

Leticia Asia said that Alexander Asia intended to “kill everyone in the house with a hammer,” according to a police report obtained by the Telegram and Gazette

Police also spoke with Ogechi Asia, brother to the victim and the suspect, who said he was also threatened with the hammer, the newspaper reports.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy. Alexander Asia is scheduled a dangerousness hearing on Dec. 10, the DA’s office said.
