Quincy police search for suspect who assaulted and robbed a woman in a city park

Police said the woman had “visible injuries” from the incident.

Quincy police are asking for the public’s help as they search for a man who they say threw a woman to the ground in a city park on Monday and robbed her.

Police said officers were called to Russell Park around 11:12 a.m. where a 49-year-old woman told them she’d been assaulted 15 minutes earlier. The woman, who police said had “visible injuries,” said she was walking on the dirt path behind the tennis courts in the park when a man approached her from behind.

“He threw her to the ground and stole money from her purse,” police said. “The suspect then fled towards Faxon Field, leaving the purse behind.”

A Quincy police K-9 was deployed and located the woman’s sneakers and jacket in a wooded area where the suspect ran, according to police. The area was searched, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as a black male, early 20’s, bald, clean shaven, wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes,” police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact Quincy police at 617-479-1212.
