In surveillance footage released by police, a store clerk at a Fall River gas station can be seen using a chair to fend off an armed robber. Police are now looking to identify the suspect in the altercation, which occurred Wednesday morning.
Fall River police say the man entered the Shell station at 372 Plymouth Ave. at about 5 a.m., armed with a knife, and demanded that the clerk “give him all the money in the register.”
“The clerk refused to comply with his demands and began using a nearby chair to create distance between he and the suspect,” officers said on Facebook.
The surveillance footage posted Thursday shows the suspect leaning over the counter with the knife, while the clerk shields his body with the wooden chair.
Police say the suspect took several packs of cigarettes that were stored above the counter and fled.
