Blackstone police charged a 17-year-old Sunday for allegedly shooting and killing someone’s pet cat with a bow and arrow.
The cat was found around 7 p.m. Thursday on Old Mendon Street and taken to Tufts’ animal hospital, according to a release. It was unable to be saved and had to be euthanized.
An anonymous donor offered a $500 cash reward Friday to anyone who could help police identify the person responsible, according to police.
After receiving several tips, Blackstone police searched the home of the 17-year-old boy Sunday morning, a release said. Officers discovered a bow and multiple arrows matching the one that killed the cat.
The boy faces two felony charges and two misdemeanors, including killing an animal, damaging personal property, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and discharging a firearm near a highway.
