Student at Orange school arrested for bringing gun to soccer game

“The Orange Police Department feels this is an isolated incident and that our students and faculty are safe.”

A student from an Orange school was arrested Thursday for bringing a gun to a soccer game on campus, the school’s superintendent said in a statement.

The Boston Globe reported the incident happened at Ralph C. Mahar Regional School at 507 South Main St. just after 5:30 p.m.

The Orange Police Department was tipped off by another student and arrested the boy as soon as he arrived on school property, superintendent Tari N. Thomas said in her statement.

Thomas said the gun was not used to threaten anyone and there is no reason to believe there is any danger at this time.
