Man arrested in stabbing death of woman in Worcester

Worcester police said Thomas Bergstrom is in custody after turning himself in to authorities.

A 36-year-old man is in custody and facing charges in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in Worcester earlier this week.

Worcester police said on Friday city resident Thomas Bergstrom is in custody after turning himself in at the Blackstone Police Department.

“He was arrested on the Worcester Police Department’s Warrant for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon,” police said.

Police announced on Thursday they were seeking Bergstrom in connection with the stabbing of a 34-year-old woman at a residence on Lapierre Street the previous evening. Police said when officers arrived at the scene Wednesday night, responding to a report of a stabbing, they were brought into a bedroom where they found the woman suffering from “several” stab wounds. She was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
