A Dorchester man is facing an armed robbery charge after police say he went into a South End store and stole 20 cell phones while carrying a handgun.
Alexis Mason, 20, was arrested after police were called to the area near 1180 Washington St. around 6:33 p.m. Wednesday. Mason and another man allegedly went into the store masked and fled on foot. Police were told they were headed along Southwest Corridor at Holyoke Street.
Officers conducted a search and soon located two suspects matching the given description walking in that area, police said. Mason was placed in custody without incident after being positively identified.
Police said they spoke with the second man on scene and he was released. A search was conducted, but police couldn’t find a weapon or any allegedly stolen items.
This investigation remains ongoing at this time, police say.
