Woman accused of choking nurse to unconsciousness while trying to escape N.H. hospital

Isabelle Montgomery, 45, allegedly tried to escape the hospital's psychiatric unit before the assault.

A woman trying to leave a New Hampshire hospital allegedly put a nurse in a headlock and choked her until she went unconscious, court records obtained by the Union Leader indicate.

Isabelle Montgomery, 45, is facing felony second-degree assault and misdemeanor simple assault charges for allegedly attacking a nurse on Nov. 4 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Montgomery allegedly tried to leave the psychiatric unit against doctors’ orders, the Union Leader reported. Security and staff tried to stop her, and she got one of the nurses in a headlock during the struggle, according to the report.

Court documents allege Montgomery choked the nurse until she passed out. The nurse reportedly told police she remembered her vision going dark as Montgomery put her in a headlock.

Montgomery is out on personal recognizance bail, the Union Leader reported. She was ordered to remain in home confinement at her Lempster property.
