Malden business owner scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Logan incident

Sergiu Parfeni, 31, faces several related charges.

Sergiu Parfeni, the Malden business owner accused of going through an emergency exit at Logan airport early Monday afternoon and climbing into a plane’s cargo hold, is scheduled to be arraigned on related charges Friday.

Parfeni, 31, was originally scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, but he was hospitalized for mental health reasons, according to the East Boston Municipal Court clerk’s office. The arraignment could be rescheduled again, an official there said.

Parfeni, who owns and operates Bikeeny Caffe, and is involved with various community organizations, is being charged with interfering with aircraft operation, disorderly conduct, and trespassing, state police said.

Police didn’t find anything “hazardous or suspicious” in the cargo hold after Parfeni was removed from it. Authorities also don’t believe intent was related to terrorism.
