Youth hockey coach charged with sexually assaulting player multiple times

A Dracut youth hockey coach from Woburn allegedly sexually assaulted a member of the team he was coaching over a span of several years, and now he’s being charged.

Allen S. Pereira, 59, is being charged with three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years old or older, a felony. He was expected to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday, according to Dracut police.

The victim was 14 years old when the incidents began, police said, and Pereira was working for a private youth hockey organization in Dracut.

“The suspect is alleged to have inappropriately touched the victim and allegedly tried to coerce the victim into touching him and performing sexual acts on him,” according to police.

Pereira was arrested on Sunday after Dracut police detectives conducted an investigation.
