Authorities: 18-year-old man shot and killed in Lowell
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) โ An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in Lowell on Tuesday night, authorities said.
Lowell police responding to reports of gunfire at about 8:30 p.m. located Luis DeJesus, of Lowell, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement Wednesday.
DeJesus was taken Lowell General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting occurred in the area of Jewett and West 4th Street. Investigators also found a gun at that scene.
A second person, a man in his 20s, was treated at the hospital for non-fatal gunshot wounds around the same time as the DeJesus shooting.
The men were known to each other and the shootings are believed to be connected, authorities said.
The shootings were not random, they said.
No charges have been announced.
