Man faces 40 counts in connection with allegedly sexually abusing, beating partners
“This is an extremely disturbing case."
A man is being held without bail after he was arrested and charged with 40 crimes — related to allegedly attempting to kill, kidnap, or rape women he dated — following a police investigation.
The 40 counts Matthew Taylor, 41, who used to live in Marshfield, faces include one count of attempted murder, two counts of rape, and four counts of kidnapping. He also faces charges related to assault and battery, indecent exposure, reckless endangerment of a child, and strangulation or suffocation, according to The Herald News.
Taylor was found dangerous in Plymouth District Court on Monday, according to the paper. His next court date is set for Feb. 27.
He allegedly monitored the woman accusing him via video surveillance. He would then allegedly sexually assault or beat her, and also allegedly lock her in a room. The woman lived in fear as Taylor would repeatedly threaten her, prosecutors reportedly allege.
“This is an extremely disturbing case,” Marshfield Police Chief Phil Tavares told the newspaper. “The safety of the victim is paramount.”
